Hey {{ first name | there }}! Welcome back to The Flow by Flocus. If you’re new around here, welcome! 👋 You can catch up on our previous editions right here.
This week: It’s back-to-routine season for millions of folks around the world. Reset your mind, body, and environment with us, in 3 gentle phases that actually feel fun, replenishing, and playful. Let’s get into it.
🪞 1. Mental Reset: Reflect before ramping up
In this September 2025 “Flowback” on back-to-routine prep, we recommended reflection as the first step for a reason:
Every season of life is a journey. You wouldn’t set off on an odyssey without a map (at least, we hope not).
Consider this pre-season reflection your map, your compass, and your guidebook for the road ahead. The more detailed and accurate it is, the more time you have to relax and actually enjoy the scenery along the way.
Before diving headfirst back into your big routines, ask yourself:
Am I in the mood for something new, fresh, and different? If so, what is it, and how can I ease into it?
What about my breaks from work / life feel most fun, exciting, and replenishing for me? (Can include anything, from routines to experiences to hobbies)
Which areas of my life need only a little adjusting before I can feel comfortable with my progress?
How do I feel about where I am now and the prospect of making any changes, even fun ones?
These are just a few examples to get you thinking. Listen out for questions that come up while you’re ruminating on these. And if our prompts don’t suit, follow your instinct; that’s what it’s all about, after all.
🎭 2. Physical Reset: Try a new style or aesthetic
What better time to switch up your style than right before a new season, quarter, or academic semester starts? How to do it confidently, both inside and out.
👚 Outer appearance
This is the real fun part: dressing up to match whatever energy you’d like to try on!
Personalization is the name of the game here, so we won’t tell you how to express yourself through clothes and accessories.
But if you need inspo, we covered 4 fun styles and aesthetics to try earlier this summer: Y2K Chrome, Sunny Soul, Bubblegum Boss, and Moon Magician.
(If trying on a new “mode” intrigues you, watch out for next week’s newsletter, where we’ll explore it even more!)
😌 Inner attitude
Looking the part is only half the battle. To really feel the part, you gotta match your inner harmonies with whatever vibes you hope to give off.
Going back to our Sunny Soul aesthetic from a minute ago, it’s not just about wearing lots of natural, earthy tones; it’s also about making people feel warm in your presence.
There’s an emotional element to that. And if it sounds tricky to do, that’s because it genuinely can be (especially when there’s a storm raging within).
“Faking it til you make it” can help with this, up to a point — and only as long as it doesn’t distort how you really feel in a harmful way.
If you’re having trouble, talk things out in your head, your journal, or with someone you trust.

🌸 3. Digital Reset: Declutter and automate
Level up your digital life with these major time-savers (including examples of how our team uses them daily!).
💌 Email labels, folders & filters
🏷️ Labels let you tag emails however you want. Real example labels: By status, priority, urgency, etc.
📁 Folders keep your inbox tidy by grouping emails into nestable sections. Color-coding and emojis help with scannability, too. Real example folders: Work, receipts, newsletters
⚙️ Filters are automations that sort both incoming and existing emails. Real example filters: Move all emails from a domain to a folder; Skip inbox for non-urgent emails; Send to junk for known spammers
🚄 Device shortcuts
🎹 Keyboard shortcuts: You probably already know the shortcuts for copy + paste, but there are so many more time-savers out there. Check out the keyboard shortcuts for your favorite apps
📱 Phone shortcuts: 1-tap / voice-activated actions for pretty much everything, from updating timers to scanning codes to sending messages
👾 Automations: Perfect for autopilot routines, like putting your device into night mode at a certain time, or opening your favorite podcast when you leave work
📵 Focus modes
In addition to the standard Do Not Disturb mode, most devices let you set extra notification profiles based on what you’re doing (working, studying, reading, sleeping, working out, etc.).
If you haven’t already set up your focus modes, play around with them. You can customize which apps and contacts can notify you, and which ones are silenced. You can even set automations to turn on a focus mode at a certain time.
And if your phone doesn’t have dedicated profiles like these, try an automatic app and website blocker, like Freedom or onesec.
