Hey {{ first name | there }}! Welcome back to The Flow by Flocus. If you’re new around here, welcome! 👋  You can catch up on our previous editions right here.

This week: We’ve talked a lot about style, mindset, and aesthetic lately. We’re continuing that theme with a deep dive into your personas, or the characters you’re “cosplaying” every day. How they help you make your dreams a reality, plus 6 personas to inspire you. Let’s dig in!

🎭 What’s Your Persona(s)?

Your personas = how you portray yourself to others using appearance and attitude

Whether you realize it or not, you “wear” different personas depending on where you are, who you’re with, and so many other things.

For example, how you act with your parents, teachers, or work colleagues in the morning is probably different from how you act with your best friend in the evening.

Of course, you can’t control what others think, or how they view you.

But you can control how you present yourself, from your words to your actions to your body language.

This can be a lot easier said than done if you struggle with anxiety, awareness, and self-confidence.

That’s where personas come in — they let you “roleplay” the kind of person you want to be. Not only is it a worthwhile creative exercise, but it’s also super fun!

If it feels weird or unnatural, think of it as cosplaying a fictional character, alter ego, or powered-up version of yourself.

Wanna try it? Need some examples or inspo? Scroll on for 6 personas you’re probably already wearing in your own life.

🙇‍♀️ Personas to Try On This Season

🚶‍♀️ The Slow One

What drives them: Deliberately doing less, moving slower, saying “no” more

Best for: People who are always rushing, overwhelmed, catching up, or spinning their wheels

Activities: Savoring long meals, walking with no destination, reading books with no agenda

🧠 The Curious One

What drives them: Saying yes to things they'd normally scroll past: a class, an event, a cuisine, a hobby; following interests without needing a reason

Best for: People who feel deprived, uninspired, or understimulated

Activities: Solo library dates, swapping social media posts for articles and art

🧑‍🎨 The Creative One

Philosophy: Making something with your hands, your words, your camera — no audience required, just doing it for the love

Best for: People who think they’re “not artistic” or “can’t” be creative

Activities: Painting by numbers, scrapbooking, making collage art

🥳 The Social One

What drives them: Prioritizing their favorite people and plans; showing up for others when they say they will

Best for: People who have been isolating or heads-down for too long and craving connection

Activities: Coffee / lunch dates with friends, seeking out community groups to join

🤫 The Quiet One

What drives them: Stripping back the noise, less input, more stillness

Best for: Anyone who feels overstimulated and under-rested

Activities: Solo work sessions in your room, spending lots of time in libraries, parks, gardens, and other tranquil places

🤨 The Responsible One

What drives them: A strong sense of conviction in their work and values; deep love and care for their communities and relationships

Best for: People who feel a lack of purpose or direction

Activities: Volunteering, supporting others in need, solving complex and impactful problems

☝️ One Last Thing

Using personas doesn’t mean you’re “faking” it, or you’re hiding the “real” you.

It can actually align your life more closely with your values, and give you more of the experiences you want.

Plus, we’re already switching up our personas every day, several times a day. We kinda have to, if we want to participate in society and maintain good relationships.

(And don’t even get us started on how social media and beauty standards have distorted what “real” means.)

If leaning into a persona resonates with you this season, go for it! And do your best to shake off any fear or doubt you may feel.

Just have fun with it, and try not to take it too seriously. Remember, just like an outfit, you can swap one persona for another at any time.

Personas are kinda like costumes: they can be used to conceal things you’d prefer not to share with others, and draw attention to the things you do.

They’re not something to hide behind. Indeed, finding personas that make you feel comfortable, confident, and balanced is the name of the game.

What’d you think of this one? Are you keen to try on a new persona ahead of back-to-routine season? Sound off in the replies!
