đŸŒ± 3 Life Lessons

Little things you’ll wish you knew earlier, but know now — in less than 5 minutes.

Hey there! Welcome back to The Flow by Flocus. If you’re new around here, welcome! 👋  You can catch up on our previous editions right here.

This week: If you could sit down with your younger self, what would you say? We put together 3 simple things you might wish you knew sooner, that could save you some stress, help you zoom out, and make your journey feel a little lighter. Let’s jump in!

😌 “When you look back, you’ll be proud of yourself — so chill out!”

Say an old friend is back in town and invites you out to lunch, but you’re studying for a big exam.

How would you normally respond?

If your answer is, “Stay home because I have ‘more important’ things to do,” this one’s for you.

We can’t tell you how many times we’ve done this exact same thing: prioritized our tasks and responsibilities over our joy, adventures, and relationships.

The worst part? Some of the stuff that was “more important” at the time turned out to be totally irrelevant later.

So you end up feeling guilty no matter what you do. If you say “yes” to lunch, you might spend the entire meal stressing out about not working. And if you say “no”, you might regret not seeing your friend.

When you look back on your life, the memories you cherish most won’t be those late-night study sessions, or all the times you turned down fun adventures for boring work.

So start rebalancing your days. Shift some of your attention away from what you “have” to do, and make more room for the things you want to do with your life.

This doesn’t mean neglecting all your responsibilities to frolic, of course. But learn to be completely okay with however much you got done today — especially if you think it “wasn’t enough”. When you look back, you’ll see that it was always enough.

đŸš¶ “Know when to let go of your love”

We treat love like something that’s endless, infinite.

But it doesn’t always have to be. In fact, it shouldn’t be.

Ever heard that saying, “Holding on too tightly to something will only hurt your hand”?

Love — whether it’s for a friend, family member, or romantic partner — can be a lot like that.

If continuing to love someone causes harm to yourself, it’s okay to let it go.

And when you do, release any expectations you have about whether that specific flavor of love will make its way back to you.

Love is like energy. It can’t be created or destroyed — it just changes shape and flows to different places.

The love you put out into the world will always find its way back to you, often in ways you don’t expect.

Also, the absence of love doesn’t have to mean the presence of hatred, though. (Or any other “negative” emotion.)

🧂 â€Most of it won’t matter”

That awkward thing you said? They probably forgot.

That one bad grade, missed deadline, or flopped project? Not as world-ending as it feels.

So much of what you’re anxious about right now will fade into the background, or become a funny story later.

Think of something you obsessed over five years ago. A test, a crush, a social mishap, a project gone sideways.

Does it still keep you up at night? Probably not.

Let that be proof that many things stressing you out now will fade, too. You just don’t have the hindsight yet, but future you will thank you for letting go early.
