Howās your summer going? It's easy to lose track of time during these glorious months only to be hit with the end-of-summer scaries as the new season approaches.
Whether you're preparing for school or a productive work season, hereās your quick, 4-step blueprint to create an inviting workspace ā making your back-to-reality transition as seamless as possible.
š§¹ Declutter
Less is more, especially when it comes to decluttering! If it doesn't bring you joy, it's time for it to go. Here's where to start:
In your workspace: Clear your desk of unnecessary items, recycle those old documents and receipts, and neatly arrange your stationery.
On your devices: Clean up your desktop, downloads folder and your phoneās home screen, delete unused apps, and sift through any unread emails to hit inbox zero.
In your home: Donate or sell clothes you havenāt worn in a while, tidy up any common spaces, and create a dedicated ārelaxation zoneā in your home ā with candles, books, and plants!
š” Level up your lighting
As weāre soaking up the summer sun, let's also gear up for the shorter days ahead, especially for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. A thoughtful lighting setup can go a long way for both concentration and relaxation.
Here's a cheat sheet for your perfect lighting mix:
If possible, set up shop near a window or anywhere in your home with lots of natural light
Go bright and white for focus (emulate daylight as much as you can)
Go dimmer and warmer for ambience
Consider a smart bulb or strip to quickly flip between ambiences
Always opt for directional light (e.g. lamps) vs. overhead, for ~vibes~

šŗ Donāt overlook ergonomics
Thereās no better time to quickly revaluate your workspaceās comfort and make last monthās wrist pain a problem of the past. Here's where to start for a cozy, yet ergonomic and productive setup!
Tweak your desk and chair: Adjust your desk and chair so your feet are flat on the floor, your back is supported, your elbows are 90Āŗ, and your screen is eye level to avoid neck strain.
Take lots of breaks: Sitting for long periods can not only be uncomfortable, but harmful long-term. Set a recurring reminder to stand, stretch, or walk around every 30 mins to stay active!
Ditch the trackpad: If you have a laptop, use an external mouse and keyboard to properly position your wrists and arms.
Comfort is key to being productive while staying healthy ā itās worth taking the time to adjust your workspace to your needs š
š¼ļø Express yourself
Last but not least: use this new era as an excuse to give your setup a makeover ā with lots of personality.
Hang up a photo of your favorite summer memory, print out a motivational quote from your favorite anime, or buy a cheap desk plant to nurture ā there are no rules!
Fact: Studies have shown that switching up your workspace boosts morale and productivity. So why not make it yours in the process?
We're confident these tips will help you feel prepared to keep those end-of-summer scaries at bay, and make your transition into the new season a breeze! A little prep can go a long way.
Until next time, !
